Dept for Education approval has been received today.
St Mary’s Church of England School, Norwood Green, has today learned from the Department for Education that the recent interview was successful and the school can now go ahead and prepare for opening in September 2014.
The school is proposed under the Free School programme in response to a shortage of local primary school places and through collaboration between St Mary’s Church, the London Diocesan Board for Schools and the wider local and Christian community.
St Mary’s Church of England School will provide high academic standards, with a focus on excellent literacy skills for all, a distinctive Christian ethos and a broad and balanced curriculum based on but not limited by the National Curriculum.
Rev Jeff Payne, Chair of the proposers group and Rector of St Mary’s Church: “We are delighted that the Department for Education have recognised the strength of our proposal and now we can’t wait to get our sleeves rolled up and prepare for a successful opening of the school!”
“This school is just what our area needs and I can’t wait for my child to start here” Kailean Khongsai
