Jane Mutch – Headteacher
Jane began her teaching career in 1999 as a Reception teacher. She has taught across the primary key stages, later becoming an Assistant Head, then Deputy Head at her previous school. As a staff governor, she played a key role during the expansion, amalgamation and building works at her last school. Jane has a wealth of experience in curriculum design and development, staff development and teacher training.
Vivien West – SENCo
Mrs West has been teaching for 20 years in a range of London schools. She was originally an English teacher but has been specialising in SEN for the last 5 years. She has a strong commitment to ensure every child receives the support and guidance that they need in order to have a positive and enjoyable educational experience.
Lara Avetoom – Year 3 Teacher
Miss Avetoom has experience working in Church of England Schools in the borough across primary and high schools. She completed her training at Roehampton University specialising in Key Stages 1 and 2.
Jacqueline Curthoys – Year 2 Teacher
Jacqui Curthoys is an Early Years trained primary teacher from Western Australia. She moved to London in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience to St Mary’s. Jacqui has worked on curriculum development in her last school. She has a particular interest in social and emotional education.
Lorna Claydon – Year 1 Teacher
Miss Claydon is a Junior Primary trained teacher with extensive experience of teaching in South African and Australian schools as well as running her own Tuition business. This is her second year as a Year One teacher here in London. She has a specialist interest in teaching English as a second language as well as developing creative support structures to ensure every child thrives and believes that they can do anything they put their mind to doing!
Auriol Hale – Reception Teacher
Auriol completed teacher training in Church of England schools through the London Diocesan Board for Schools. She specialised in the Early Years Foundation Stage and maths. After qualifying she taught in central London and then spent a year travelling and teaching in New Zealand.
Sadaf Obaid – HLTA
Sadaf has worked as a Teaching Assistant for 14 years in a variety of schools, ranging from Montessori, private, mainstream and SEN. She brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion for working with children from different cultures and backgrounds.
Kamaljit Sangha – TA
Kamaljit is committed to raising the standard of teaching and learning. She brings many years of experience and a passion for learning. Kam has previously worked as a nursery nurse and pre-school assistant in various settings.
Luidmila Toms – SMSA
Luidmila has worked in education since 1999 both in Russia and the UK. She has also worked as a nanny and as a volunteer within Children’s Centres. Luidmila holds First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates.
Jane Maqbool – Administrator
Jane brings over 20 years’ experience to the team and is delighted to support the Trustees and the Head in the running of St Mary’s School. Being a local resident for most of her life, she is excited to be a part of this Church of England school in Norwood Green.
